Description

Ub Iwerks - Pat Powers Studio Double-Signed Contract (P. A. Powers, 1936). Ub Iwerks was inducted as a Disney Legend in 1989. He was an animator, cartoonist, character designer, inventor, special effects technician, and a studio head. He was also Walt Disney's oldest friend and early business partner. Many people credit him with co-creating Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse. After a falling out with Walt over receiving proper credit, Iwerks set up shop for competitor Pat Powers, where he produced Flip the Frog and Willie Whopper shorts, and other ComicColor cartoons. This is a rare Ub Iwerks (1901 - 1971) signed legal release document for Pat Powers dated June 6, 1936. It is signed under his legal name, Ubbe E. Iwerks, then signed again as Ub Iwerks. The contract is stapled to a brown backing page, with overall dimensions of 14" x 9" on the brown paper, whereas the document is 13" x 8.5". There is an embossed seal is on the release document as well. Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
