Description
Peanuts - Charles Schulz Signed Letter Group (1965). The Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz was first launched in 1950. Peanuts is among the most popular and influential newspaper strips in history and over 17,000 strips were published during its original run. At the time of Schulz's death in 2000, his comic ran in over 2,600 newspapers, with a readership of approximately 355 million in 75 countries, translated into 21 languages. Offered in this lot is an original letter from the creator of this billion-dollar franchise from the relatively early days of the strip. It is in response to a request for the original artwork for a published strip from that time. In the letter Mr. Schulz explains that that strip request has already been given to someone else, but suggests "Perhaps at some future time you may see another that you might wish to have. If so, please feel free to write immediately." The hand-signed correspondence is on 6.25" x 7" stationery with the artist's home address at the top and a delightful printed image of Charlie Brown and Snoopy along the bottom. It's a wonderful and rare piece of Charles Schulz and comic strip history.More information about Charles Schulz. See also: Schulz, Charles, Schulz, Charles Monroe Artist.
