    Description

Eyvind Earle: Landscapes in Mystery Letters and Manuscript Group (American Artist,1971-72). Eyvind Earle was inducted as a Disney Legend in 2015. Here is one of the most important and rare lots we have ever offered about this man. This is a series of handwritten letters and manuscripts by Eyvind Earle. In these letters, Mr. Earle writes his entire life story, including his childhood, how he began to paint, his life as a struggling artist, his time working at Disney, and more. Mr. Earle, age 55 at the time, wrote this for use in the May 1972 issue of American Artist, which featured an Eyvind Earle biography and article. This lot has a total of 35 handwritten pages in ball-point pen, all on Eyvind Earle Productions letterhead. There are six sets of correspondence by Mr. Earle in this lot; three are hand-signed. The published magazine is also included. The story ran on pages 28-33 and 84-85. All 35 pages are bound. Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good overall condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
