Walt Disney World Phase One Development Press Kit and Disney First Day Covers Group (Walt Disney, 1969). Originally billed as "The Vacation Kingdom of the World", Walt Disney World was a huge undertaking and involved the collaboration of industrial giants U. S. Steele and RCA at the earliest stages of development. This is an early press kit put out by Walt Disney Productions outlining the work ahead in creating Walt's dream of a "Vacation Kingdom" and "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow" (EPCOT). Included in the kit is a 24 page brochure with a "Message from Roy O. Disney" on the inside cover. Roy spearheaded this project after Walt's death. The brochure highlights concepts for the various planned attractions, accommodations and the challenges involved in constructing them on the then 2500 acre parcel of land. With the brochure is an array of press releases from Walt Disney World, U.S. Steel and RCA along with a dozen 8" x 10" black and white glossy photos of park attraction concept paintings and the company officers heading up the project. This is virtual treasure trove of rare official documents released just prior to the launch of Walt's dream for the future. Walt Disney World became a wildly popular vacation destination that spawned Disney theme parks and resorts the world over. All of the press kit items are contained within the original 8.5" x 11" paperboard folder with the Walt Disney World logo on the front. As an added bonus, the lot also includes two Walt Disney First Day of Issue commemorative postal covers along with the program for the stamp release ceremony held in in Disney's hometown of Marceline, Missouri 9/11/68. All pieces in the lot show light handling and condition is Very Good.
