Dispatch from Disney's Walt Disney and Staff-Signed Copy with Pin-Up Print (Walt Disney, 1943). Hang on to your hats, Disney Animation collectors, and get ready to be amazed. First, a little information about Dispatch from Disney's. This is the 32-page brochure published by Walt Disney Studios and sent to GI's in the service, with content produced by studio employees. There is an introduction from Walt, and a letter to "Joe" from Mickey Mouse. The 5.5" x 8" booklet is lavishly illustrated throughout. A folded pin-up with "good girl" art by Fred Moore was originally inserted in the booklet; many copies have this missing, but it's included here.
Now for the real news about this incredibly rare item. This is a copy specially prepared for Disney animator Don Lusk, who had been drafted around 1942. Before this copy of the booklet had its cover stapled on, both blank inside covers were loaded with signatures from his friends at the studio. A partial list includes Walt Disney (signing as "Walt") on the inside front cover, along with Al Bertino, Ted Berman, Bill Justice, Harry Reems, Bill de la Torre, Fred Kopietz, Tom Oreb, Ralph Wright, Ed Dunn, and Dick Kinney. One of "Walt's Nine Old Men," Les Clark signed in the spine area. On the inside back cover are many more signatures, including "Nine Old Men" member Ward Kimball plus Clyde Geronimi, Hal King, Joe Stahley, Jack King, John Sibley, Rusty Jones, Bill Berg, Nick Nichols, Marvin Woodward, and Don Griffith (and YES, there are more). Caught your breath yet? Then say it with us... WOW!! The booklet is very well preserved, with only a very minor bit of aging and handling wear. The pin-up has a couple of minor stain spots, but nothing obtrusive. Very Good overall condition. From the Don Lusk Archives.
