Description

Disneyland - Railroad Engine #4 Blueprint (Walt Disney, c. 1950). When Walt Disney was invited by one of his "Nine Old Men," Ward Kimball, to a "steam-up" party for the local Live Steamers Club in 1945, the experience ignited in Walt a profuse fascination with trains that eventually led to the creation of Disneyland. Built initially by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1925, the Railroad Engine #4 was named after the then-president of Santa Fe, Ernest S. Marsh. The Railroad Engine # 4 was remodeled and added to Disneyland on 7/25/1959. It is still running to this day, although now running on biodiesel. This lot features a detailed blueprint for Disneyland's Railroad Engine #4, presented in a glass-fronted frame measuring 30.75" x 12.25" with a mat opening of 27.25" x 9". The frame is sold as-is. With some age-related toning, the condition is Very Good.
From the Rummell Collection.
