    Description

    Wladyslaw Theodor Benda Woman's Home Companion Magazine Posters Group of 2 (Crowell Publishing Co., 1936). As well-known in his day as Norman Rockwell and Maxfield Parrish, Benda was regarded along Publishers' Row in New York as a dependable and prolific source of irresistible cover paintings. This heavy-stock, actual-size reproduction showcases one of Benda's most vividly conceived designs -- a symmetrical but varied montage of five distinctive faces. The two pieces are identical, barring a trimmed lower margin on one. The other shows marginal staple-gun punctures, likely from an unframed wall display. Image area, 9.5" x 12.5". The printing stock is a form of smooth-surfaced cardboard, known in the trade as railroad board. Slight corner crimping. Excellent condition.
