Description
Superman World War II War Bonds Poster (c. 1940s). This WWII-era political war ad promises that, with the help of Superman and everyone pitching in to buy War Bonds, the Axis powers will be defeated! The main image area shows Superman hoisting caricatures of Adolf Hitler and Emperor Hirohito (both depicted using insensitive racial stereotypes indicative of the era in which the poster was created) symbolizing US might over the opposing forces. The poster is toned and appears to have been folded in half both horizontally and vertically, resulting in creasing and tears. There are also stains and rips present. The poster has an image area of 12.5" x 16.5", glass-front framed to 14" x 18". Presents in Good condition.Auction Info
