    Silly Symphony French Stock Theatrical Poster (Walt Disney/United Artists, c. 1933). This extremely rare Disney stock poster highlighted the studio's Silly Symphony series. During the fall of 1932, Walt Disney's contract with Columbia Pictures came to an end and the animator moved his distribution deal to United Artists. In the Depression era, many exhibitors had to cut back on expenses. One of the first things to go was their budget for ordering individual one sheets for each cartoon that was shown. United Artists issued "stock" one sheets so that the exhibitors could re-use the poster each time a new Silly Symphony cartoon was played in their theaters. This example was designed by artist Cecchello for the French market, featuring images from 1933 shorts Bugs in Love, Santa's Workshop, Babes in the Woods, King Neptune, and of course, The Three Little Pigs, one of Disney's biggest hits from that era. This stock French Affiche poster measures 23.5" x 31.25", and has some minor restoration to repair tack holes and fold creases; it is paper-backed, for an overall size of 24.75" x 32.75". Good condition.
