Description
The Creature from the Black Lagoon "Gill Man" Mask (Universal, c. 1954). Forrest J. Ackerman is widely considered a "father of science fiction" and is best known as a founding editor and principal writer of the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland. His incredible and large collection of science fiction, fantasy, and horror film memorabilia museum known as the "Son of Ackermansion", was effectively a private museum of science fiction's golden age, praised by the Smithsonian as one of America's ten best private museums.This mask is from "Uncle Forry's" collection and is believed to be a "secondary mask" used for long shots and by stunt extras in the classic original monster flick Creature from the Black Lagoon. The mask measures approximately 15.5" x 10" x 13".
The vintage original latex mask, painted in opalescent greens with red accents, is polyfoam-filled for display and preservation. In Very Good condition. Comes with a typed COA from Ackerman and is signed.
