Description
Pirates of the Caribbean Life-Size Helmsman and Wheel Replica (c. 2010). Perhaps one of the most recognizable figures from the legendary Disneyland attraction, this incredible piece recreates the helmsman scene from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. The skeletal helmsman has been part of the attraction since it opened, and it even inspired the first movie poster for the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The detail and quality of this piece are just breathtaking! Excitingly, it was created with a skeleton prop that is thought to have been used during the making of a Pirates of the Caribbean film. It was acquired from a respected Hollywood prop collector, and the ship's wheel, clothing, and other nautical details were added by an actual Hollywood prop creator. It's truly an unbelievable piece, with so much intricate detail put into its theming and design. The piece is life-sized: the base measures 26" wide, 27" long, and 8.5" high. The wheel has a diameter of 35", and the skeletal helmsman is about 58" tall. It is in Very Good condition, with minor wear. The rustic look of the piece is an intentional part of its design.From the Rummell Collection.
