Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Memorabilia Lot of 25 Featuring Previously Unseen Screenplay For The Unproduced Fourth Movie (1989-97). While memorabilia from all three Turtles movies is included here, the highlight is three versions of the screenplay of the unproduced fourth film which have never been seen by the public!
The first version is dated January 1995, the last July 1997. The second version in particular has extensive handwritten notes by Kevin Eastman, and he added sketches of Splinter and one of the Turtles on the first page. The third draft has a Leonardo sketch on the first page. (See Mr. Eastman's comments on the fourth movie below).
The memorabilia from the first Turtles movie includes the very first story treatment from December 1988, Kevin Eastman's copy of the finished screenplay, New Line Cinema's production notes, the DVD, the storybook based on the movie, and a New Line publicity folder chock-full of press releases, stills, and such, including a cool Turtles Christmas card sent out by Golden Harvest films. Also included are five magazines/newspapers that cover-featured the movie.
For the second movie The Secret of the Ooze we have the screenplay, as well as Eastman's faxed and handwritten notes regarding it (he found plenty of room for improvement). There's also the press kit for the movie and the graphic novel with the official adaptation, plus the DVD and a ticket from the 1991 world premiere. For Turtles III we have Eastman's copies of both the second draft and the final draft of the screenplay. There's also the 1990 trade paperback collection (of the comics).
Almost every piece has been signed by Kevin Eastman, who added a turtle's-head sketch to most. And yes, you even get the suitcase in which Kevin kept the treasure-trove and he has signed that as well.
Kevin Eastman on the unfilmed fourth movie: "TMNT Movie One broke all kinds of records when it came out in March of 1990 ($125 million), and Movie Two did pretty well at $80 million box office dollars the following year. Movie Three, a softer hit at $42 million in 1993 -- but all three were still incredibly strong VHS sales, so New Line Cinema and Mirage Studios started laying down the groundwork for a 4th film.
I was doing most of the traveling for the company at this point, and began regular trips to Los Angeles to work with the writers, and run the progress back to Mirage HQ in Northampton, Massachusetts. After two drafts were completed, New Line abandoned the project--and a year later Motion Picture Corporation of America optioned the rights, and I continued to work on behalf of Mirage Studios developing the ideas for the picture -- and as with the original New Line draft, this version also featured a fifth TMNT character we would introduce -- named after our main inspiration/hero Jack 'King" Kirby.
This version of the film also ended up being abandoned, and all the character designs I had worked up in that time period (1995 to 1997), were put back on the shelf, published only once in Kevin Eastman's TMNT "Artobiography" and the scripts have never been released to the public."
(Later, a different fifth turtle, a female character, was developed for a live action TV series... but that is another story, and today Mr. Eastman is working with Paramount Pictures, executive producer Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company, and director Jonathan Liebesman to develop an all new live-action TMNT film--scheduled to hit the big screen at Christmas 2013.)
