Description

Johnny Got His Gun Original Movie Script (Dalton Trumbo, c. 1970). Dalton Trumbo's 1938 novel Johnny Got His Gun was a pacifist story set during World War I. His leftist views and association with the American Communist Party resulted in being blacklisted for many years (and jailed for a few months). When that stigma eventually faded, Trumbo wrote a film script based on his novel, which became a 1971 movie starring Timothy Bottoms. Here is an original copy of Trumbo's script, from the personal archives of Stan Freberg. Housed in a hardcover binder with a photo cover of the image that would be used in advertising, with a hand "peace" symbol contrasted with a WWI solder and barbed wire. Script is 136 typed one-sided pages, and includes reviews of the novel. Very Good condition with handling wear.
