Description
WWII US Navy Aircraft Squadron Insignia Poster Stamps (McLaurin-Jones, c. 1940-1945). Military insignia were extremely popular during World War II. These designs were found everywhere, from matchbooks, to decals, to bond posters, and more. One place that insignia could be found was on stamps. Some of these stamps were specially created for collecting, and they were issued alongside stamp albums that collectors could affix them inside. This group of twenty-four stamps comes from a McLaurin-Jones series of stamps that contain the insignia of various US Navy Aircraft Squadrons. The insignia for Fighting Squadron VF-72 which is included in this stamp set was created by Walt Disney Studios. This group of stamps is in Very Good condition, with very minor handling and edge wear, as well as a slightly separated middle perforation.From the Samuel Grabarski "Disney Goes to War" Archives.
