Description

Walt Disney World - Park-Used Mail Box (Walt Disney, c. 1970s). An original metal mailbox from Main Street at Walt Disney World. These functional mailboxes have been a fixture on Main Street since the park opened in 1971, allowing guests to send letters and postcards with an official Walt Disney World postmark. The ability to deposit mail on Main Street contributes to the turn-of-the-century atmosphere. Countless souvenir postcards have been sent to all corners of the world passing through these mailboxes. This painted metal mailbox bears the early Walt Disney World logo over the words "Mail Box" on the front with "Letters" on the hinged top-flap. This incredible artifact from the early days of Walt Disney World measures 17.5" tall, 16" wide, and 9" deep, and is in Very Good condition, with some scuffing and chipping to the paint from park use.
From the Rummell Collection.
