Description

Walt Disney Productions Management Chart with Operational Chart Group of 6 (Walt Disney, 1942-1943). While Walt Disney is known worldwide for its animated productions, theme parks, and merchandise, one thing that the company is not necessarily known for is giving public information about its internal management and operating procedures. This lot gives a rare look into the structure, organization, and management of the company. Two different company-used documents are included in this lot. The first is a chart of the Disney Production management hierarchy. This studio photographic print appears to have been given to Jack Cutting, who is marked on the chart as managing foreign relations. Cutting was also an animator and director for Walt Disney, and he was part of El Grupo, which traveled around South America as part of a Goodwill trip in 1941. This chart is unique in that it contains the names of the head of many of the departments, rather than just generally outlining the company's structure. People mentioned on this hierarchy include Walt Disney, Roy Disney, and many more. This chart measures about 15" x 12.25", and it has a vertical fold down its middle. The second chart, of which six original handouts are included, provides a different look at the organization of the company, with each segment of the production process outlined, as well as their functions. These charts are printed with black and red ink on 10.5" x 11.5" paper. Each of these six charts has one horizontal fold and two vertical folds. The larger, photographic print chart is in Fair to Good condition, with substantial handling and edge wear, including wear on the vertical fold, some tears and creasing on the edges, and a chunk of missing paper on the upper right corner. The other six charts are in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, as well as the mentioned folds on each chart.
