Walt Disney Collectibles - Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland "The Mad Hatter" Animated Musical Big Figure As-New (Walt Disney, 2005). "You must have a cup of tea!" The tea-toting milliner pours another cup of tea for his guests in this very merry Walt Disney Collectibles "The Mad Hatter" Animated Musical Big Figure! The "Hatter" first stepped from the pages of Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and onto the motion picture screen for Walt Disney's animated feature-length musical adaptation, Alice in Wonderland. Disney Big Figures debuted in 1989 with a simple release of the "Disney Standard Characters" Mickey, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy. However, Disney retail branches expanded the collection to include exclusive and limited-edition figure releases based on popular feature films, issued through The Disney Store, The Disney Catalog, and Disney Parks. Designed by artists Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily, the Mad Hatter "comes to life" with a dynamic resin sculpt, comical expression, and delicately applied, hand-painted features a tall tea pot and a stack of miniature teacups filled with translucent "tea". The scene is accented with a Sankyo motorized music-box element that plays the memorable "Unbirthday Song" and a animating, spiraling "flow" of tea, each operated with a wind-up feature. Few Big Figures were designed in this style, with animation, adding to the outstanding nature of this collectible. This Walt Disney Collectibles Mad Hatter Animated Musical Big Figure was released during the 50th anniversary of Disneyland, sold out and was "retired", and has long since been sought after by fans and collectors. The Big Figure measures 25" x 18" x 11" and is in Fine condition, accompanied by its Walt Disney Collectibles Certificate of Authenticity, instruction sheet, and polyform packaging.
