Description

The Illusion of Life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston (Walt Disney/Hyperion, 1995). This essential book is a must for anyone seriously into Disney cartoons, and animation in general. This is a beautiful first edition copy covering every aspect of the process that produced some of the world's finest animated films. It is hand-signed on the first title page by authors Frank Thomas (1912 - 2004) and Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008), two of Walt Disney's master animators known as his "Nine Old Men." Frank and Ollie joined The Walt Disney Studios in the 1930s and quickly became lead animators in the making of numerous short cartoons of the 1930s and 1940s, and nearly every animated feature from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) through The Fox and the Hound (1981). This is the first -- and most important -- of the authors' four excellent books on Disney animation. It is illustrated throughout in full color and black-and-white with 489 full-color and 1000s of black-and-white pictures. The hardcover book is clothbound with dust jacket; overall size is 11.25" x 10.5" x 1.25". A Howard Lowery Certificate of Authenticity is included. Fine condition with light handling.
