Description
The Black Cauldron Early Script by Rosemary Anne Sisson (Walt Disney, c. 1970s). Disney's darkest fantasy took a long time making it to the screen before its 1965 release. Work began on the project shortly after Disney obtained the rights to Lloyd Alexander's five-volume set of The Chronicles of Prydain in 1973. Work continued during the 1970s, including the writing of this screenplay by British author Rosemary Anne Sisson (1923 - 2017), who had earlier contributed to scripts for Disney live-action films Ride a Wild Pony (1975), Escape from the Dark (1976), Candleshoe (1977), and The Watcher in the Woods (1980). Here is her original typed screenplay with handwritten notations, from the personal archives of The Black Cauldon producer Joe Hale. The treatment is 89 single-sided pages, housed in an old blue three-hole paper folder. The screenplay was produced in London. Condition is Good to Very Good, with handling wear on the folder, and minor wear on the interior pages. VERY cool item from this nearly-forgotten Disney animated feature film that has since become a cult favorite! From the 30+ Year Disney Artist/Producer Joe Hale Collection.
