RARE The Art of Animation Book by Bob Thomas Signed by Walt Disney, All "Nine Old Men" and 6 Other Notable Disney Artists (Walt Disney, 1958). This is a RARE first edition book titled, The Art of Animation by Bob Thomas with the staff of the Walt Disney Studio. The book was signed by Walt Disney himself, along with all of "Walt's Nine Old Men." The book details the feature films and shorts from the Disney Studios up to 1958 with a special emphasis on Sleeping Beauty (1959). Book sections include Story, Characters, Sound, Music, Direction, Layout, Animation, Background and Color, and the future of animation. We have never seen the signatures of all "Nine Old Men" collected in one piece! Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Woolie Reitherman, Ward Kimball, Milt Kahl, Marc Davis, Les Clark, and John Lounsbery all signed the double-spread photograph in which they appear on pages 134 and 135. Other notable Disney signatures include Disney Legends X(avier) Atencio, Bill Justice, Ken Anderson, Bill Peet and Don DaGradi plus notable story artist Joe Rinaldi. This is the definitive book into how traditional animation was made. It has the original book cover. A rare Disney item indeed! The cover shows edge wear, the pages show age-related toning.
