Description

RARE "Donald Duck's Birthday" Porcelain Figure by Capodimonte (Walt Disney, 1984). "Donald Duck's Birthday", is a stunning porcelain figurine and part of The Laurenz Disney Character Collection by Capodimonte of Italy, celebrating the 50th birthday of Walt Disney's popular cartoon creation. In 1934, the irascible Donald Duck became the indelible breakout star of Walt Disney's Silly Symphony The Wise Little Hen (1934), going on to develop an international fan base of followers as he starred in his own series of short films and comics. Decades later, the famous Italian sculptor Enzo Arzenton was moved to create this truly masterful Capodimonte rendition, honoring the 50th birthday of the duck "with the sweetest disposition" and his colorful comic contributions. "Donald Duck's Birthday" is a heartwarming homage, depicting Donald resting in his easy chair, reading the iconic Four-Color Comics #199 (the classic Barks "Sheriff Of Bullet Valley"), and surrounded by the other memorable issues of Barks Four Color Comics, as his nephews prepare to surprise him. Measuring an impressive 10.5" x 14" x 9", this porcelain biscuit figurine is hand-painted and decorated, and is respectfully presented atop a wood display. Limited to an edition of 2,500 pieces, this sculpture bears the official Capodimonte mark, hand-painted signature and unique serial number 25/2500, and is in Fine condition.
