Description

RARE Dispatch From Disney's WWII Digest Publication #1 (Walt Disney, 1943). "I get red, white, and blue at times." - Walt Disney. Proudly presented is a rare copy of Dispatch From Disney's, a special communication that was produced by and for servicemen and servicewomen who were also fellow employees of Walt Disney Studios! The cover features an iconic image of Donald Duck and Der Fuehrer's Face (by the illustrious T. Hee) and opens to reveal a special message from Walt Disney. The 36-page publication is outstandingly laden with contributions by instantly recognizable patriots of Disney's own battalion, including a communique from Walt's brother Roy, followed by numerous short articles about contemporaneous war-era Walt Disney Productions like Victory Through Air Power, Saludos Amigos, and Roald Dahl's Gremlins. Not to be missed are dozens of caricatures and other cartoons by Roy Williams, war insignia by Hank Porter, and fine art by Herb Ryman and other artists. Dispatch From Disney was intended to be the medium through which employees could send news of their contributions to the war effort. However, Volume One, Number One was the only issue ever published by Walt Disney Studios. This scarce publication measures 5.5" x 8", is in Very Good condition, exhibiting minimal toning and wear. The historic artifact is an invaluable treasure to animation historians as it divulges unique perspectives that were preserved during a never-to-be-repeated era for Walt Disney Studios!
