Description

Ponyo Double-Sided Theatrical Flyer Signed by Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli, 2008). "I feel that I was searching in my subconscious with a fishing net, and I happened to catch a goldfish in my net, and that was the inspiration for starting this movie," reflects legendary writer-director Hayao Miyazaki in a 2009 US press conference to promote the then-upcoming western release of Ponyo. Offered in this lot is a double-sided B5 sized Japanese movie flyer for the film signed by Miyazaki just weeks prior to his stateside visit. The 7" x 10" Japanese language flyer was originally printed to promote the film's domestic release on July 19, 2008, with the front side featuring similar information to a typical movie poster and the reverse introducing the setting and plot as well as each of the characters along with the film's premier date. The front side is signed by Miyazaki in ink just above Ponyo's head with the date 2009.7.14; a Letter of Authenticity verifying the signature is included. With typical handling and edge wear including faint corner and surface wear to the flyer, overall this rare signed artifact is in Very Good condition.
