Jeffries Barn "Tex Hall" Preliminary Artwork (c. 1954-80s). Jeffries Barn was originally a dairy barn where world champion boxer James L. Jeffries grew up and later turned into a training camp for young boxers in Burbank, California. It was used for a boxing scene in the 1939 John Garfield/Dead End Kids movie, They Made Me a Criminal. The barn was moved to Knott's Berry Farm on Jeffries Street in November 1954. The barn has been used for many events and promotions over the years. This lot includes three pieces of original artwork that showcase how the barn was used. This is artwork on board for a Western Show; a Coney Island Athletic Club promoting a James J. Jeffries appearance; and a sign where portraits would be painted in pastel from a sitting or photograph. All are mounted to board with acetate over them. These are working park design drawings. Boards are 10" x 13", 10" x 12", and 10" x 12". Minor handling and edge wear from design use; Good condition.
