    Description

Edgar Rice Burroughs - Tarzan and the Foreign Legion Book and Signed Check (Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc., 1947). With this lot, one determined bidder will receive a signed check written by Edgar Rice Burroughs to "Pene's" for the amount of $43.11 on Oct. 7th, 1937 -- and that's in addition to a rare and wonderful book. This copy of Tarzan and the Foreign Legion is an Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. first edition, and contains an interesting note that reads in part, "This book is one of the few survivors of a near-disastrous fire that occurred in our storeroom on Saturday, May 3, 1958... Although this book shows fire damage, we are told it has considerable value among collectors." The fire damage mentioned in the note is limited to some faint smoke marks on the top edge; with the exception of these smoke marks this book grades as a solid Fine -- and the signed check is in excellent condition too!
