Description
Dungeons & Dragons Original Edition "White Box" Set - Seventh Printing (Tactical Studies Rules, 1978-79). Written by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. Art by Arneson, Keenan Powell, Greg Bell, C. Corey, T. Keogh, and David Sutherland III.Contents: Four digest-sized booklets and subscription flyer in a 6" x 8.5" x 1.5" box.
A later printing of the original ruleset, now commonly referred to as OD&D. This very early version of the game featured only three classes (Fighter, Magic-User, and Cleric) and three non-human player-character races (elf, dwarf and hobbit, the latter of which was changed to halfling due to rights issues), as well as a number of other key aspects of the game, such as character alignment, experience points and character levels, armor class, etc.
The contents include three 36- to 40-page rule booklets -- "Men & Magic", "Monsters & Treasure", and "The Underworld & Wilderness Adventures" -- plus a 10-page booklet of reference tables and a folded subscription flyer for Dragon magazine. The box is in Very Good condition with edge and corner wear, and moderate to heavy foxing; the booklets are in Very Fine condition with light wear.
