Cover by Clyde Caldwell. Art by Jeff Easley. Cartography by David S. "Diesel" LaForce.The first of nine modules designed for the Basic D&D Companion-level ruleset, Test of the Warlords broke significant new ground for the game. It was the first Basic D&D adventure for characters above 14th level and the game's first "campaign adventure," designed as a framework for long-running adventures lasting roughly two years of game time. It moved the action into the realm of political intrigue and introduced two major new game systems: the Dominion system, which allowed players to run their own kingdoms, and the War Machine mass combat system. CBCS notes, "Shrinkwrap: B. Two small stickers attached to shrinkwrap."
