Description

Donald Duck's 50th Birthday Press Plan Summary (Walt Disney, 1984). Donald Duck first hit the screen in the Silly Symphony The Wise Little Hen in 1934, followed by his first appearance alongside Mickey Mouse in Orphan's Benefit. In 1984, Donald Duck celebrated 50 years since his first appearance on-screen, and this lot gives us a look at this important celebration. This is an original 1984 press plan summary that provides detailed information about each aspect of the marketing and press efforts for Donald Duck's birthday. The sections in the document include the following: Global Publicity, Duck Prints (detailing Donald's handprint ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre), Army Discharge (about Donald Duck's official military retirement), White House (giving information about Donald Duck's visit to President Bush at the White House), Academy Awards (describing Donald Duck's montage at the Academy Awards of the year), and 50 Ducklings (a humorous segment about 50 actual ducks that were imprinted on Donald Duck and trained). The extensive document is a wonderful piece of Donald Duck ephemera that celebrates his long and storied history. The document measures about 8.5" x 11", with a thickness of about 1". It is in Good condition, with handling and wear, including wear and creasing on the section tabs. There is some toning throughout the document.
From the Rummell Collection.
