Description

Disneyland - Rocket to the Moon Big Figure (Walt Disney, 1995). "Tomorrow offers new frontiers in science, adventure, and ideals." In honor of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney's original magic kingdom is this Big Figure celebrating a memorable opening day attraction - the TWA Rocket to the Moon at Disneyland! From the opening day of 1955 to 1961, the original, stunning 76-foot-tall TWA "Moonliner" stood poised for "blast-off", drawing guests toward the Disneyland Spaceport and the Rocket to the Moon in Tomorrowland. For those who remember, the Disneyland attraction was innovative, dramatizing space travel for audiences more than a decade before the first American spaceflight that landed humans on the moon. This exceptional model of the Rocket to the Moon also has "draw" power, celebrating the iconic Tomorrowland centerpiece with an intricate resin sculpt featuring the captain's cockpit, windows, landing gear. The entire replica is completed, hand-painted in the bold and shiny, red-and-white palette of original Rocket to the Moon sponsor Trans-World Airline (TWA). This fantastic sculpture is a striking reminder of a bygone era for Disneyland and signifies the atomic age and the challenge of outer space as envisioned by Walt Disney! Measuring an impressive 19" tall, this rocket replica is presented mounted atop a 8.5" x 8.5" display reading its name - "Rocket to the Moon". This stellar tribute to the early Disneyland Park landmark is in Good overall condition, exhibiting some crazing to the paint, scuffs, and surface wear from previous display.
