Description

Disneyland - ALWEG Monorail Park Attraction Poster (Walt Disney, 1959-1976). "We're now en route to our final stop-the Tomorrowland Monorail Station!" The colorful red and blue Disneyland-ALWEG Monorail trains navigate the "beamway" high over Tomorrowland in this vintage silk-screened poster for the Monorail at Disneyland! The spectacular Disneyland-ALWEG Monorail debuted in 1959, as the first daily-operating monorail system in the Western Hemisphere, carrying guests across the landscapes of Tomorrowland. In 1961, the Monorail route was expanded to become the nation's first practical monorail system, with stops at the Speedramp in Tomorrowland and the fabulous Disneyland Hotel. During that early era, posters of this style promoted the high-speed transportation of the future, while suggesting nearby adventures like the TWA Rocket to the Moon, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and Submarine Lagoon. For the new attraction, original artwork and designs were prepared by artist Paul Hartley, outstandingly featuring the name of monorail manufacturer ALWEG, realized through the magic of colorful silk screening at the WED Print Shop. Measuring 36" x 54", this original silk-screened poster print is in Good condition, with vibrant colors, and exhibiting a 1.5" tear on the bottom, two 1" x 1" cuts near the Moonliner Rocket and Disneyland Spaceport, and small creases and scuffs throughout. Fans of the most iconic Tomorrowland attraction will delight over this memorable poster that celebrates the original adventure that has a legacy in the Disneyland Monorail!
