Description
"Disneyland 55" Plates Pre-Production Sample Boxed Set of 4 by Kevin & Jody (Walt Disney, 2010). This beautifully crafted set of four ceramic square plates recreates the iconic 1956 Disneyland souvenir guidebook map. Designed by Disney collectable powerhouse artists Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily, this 4-plate preproduction sample set celebrates the charm of Disneyland's early years, showcasing the duo's signature ability to draw inspiration from the Disney's storied past. Each 8.5" x 8.5" square plate features a quarter section of the park's layout highlighting Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Adventureland complete with Main Street. Together the plates form a complete recreation of the 1956 Disneyland map's central image. Upon release, this set paid homage to the Park's opening year with an edition size of 1,955 pieces. Prior to release, the plates underwent an approval process under the guidance of Kevin & Jody with several pre-production samples created. This set of samples is the earliest Heritage has seen to-date, having been produced on January 11, 2010 according to the Sample identification sticker found on the underside of the 9" x 9" x 2.5" decorative box which features the Tomorrowland image adorning the lid. With minimal handling and edge wear including some faint surface scuffing to the box, overall this delightfully retro sample set is in Very Good condition.From the Personal Archives of Renowned Disney Artists Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily.
