    Description

Mickey Mouse Sketch by Hardie Gramatky and Artist Memorabilia (Walt Disney, c. 1928-30s). Andrew Wyeth named Hardie Gramatky (1907 - 1979) one of America's greatest watercolor artists. He had a long successful Illustration Art career with his work being shown in such magazine as Fortune, Gulliver's, Woman's Day, Readers Digest, and many more. He also was a successful children's book writer/illustrator. His work at Disney can be seen through his book, Little Toot. This is from an early 1930s scrapbook of a woman believed to be named Betty Benedict. These very fragile old scrapbook pages have three 2.5" x 4" black and white photos of Hardie Gramatky dated 1928 and 1929 on the reverse. Also is a graphite drawn pie-eyed Mickey Mouse on paper measuring 9" x 12". The smiling, waving Mickey Mouse is a full 9". Paper is folded with edge tears and handling. Back of drawing reads, "Drawn for me by Hardie Gramatky when he was working for Walt Disney." A very rare Mickey Mouse original form a very important artist. Everything is brittle and fragile. Fair condition.
