Description

Empress Electric Drum Piano (c. 1920s). The Empress Electric Drum Piano was sold under the Empress Electric Brand, a line of coin-operated pianos and orchestration pianos built and sold by the large Lyon and Healy Piano Company of Chicago (the leading manufacturer of in-concert harps). They built these pianos in conjunction with the Operators Piano Company (Coinola). Lyon and Healy used their "Washburn" brand pianos and cabinets and installed player mechanisms and instruments provided by the Operators Piano Company. Like Coinola pianos, Empress pianos also used the desirable "Style O" music rolls with beautiful solo arrangements. Piano is made of quarter-sawn oak wood. The original stain glass panels were replaced with clear glass to allow viewing of its interior workings. The piano has been modified over the years of operation. The piano is sold "as is" with no implied warranty or working condition, and will require restoration. Empress Electric Pianos are considered RARE. Fair condition.
