Description
Elias Disney/O-Zell Company Signed Contract (Walt Disney,
1918). Walt Disney's father, Elias Disney (1859 - 1941) first
began investing in the O-Zell Company in 1912, and eventually moved
back to Chicago to work for them in 1917. Originally the O-Zell
Company was a jelly-canning factory that also bottled apple juice.
Elias planned to convert it to producing and bottling soft drinks.
This is a rare original Elias Disney signed contract with the
O-Zell Company. The contract details agreement on stock
subscription and subsequent purchase and sales of same: between
Elias Disney and O-Zell. This is the original contract typed on
American Trust Bond with the O-Zell corporate seal. It is dated
January 29, 1918, legal size of 8.5" x 13". This document is
considered extremely rare. This is one of the only contracts
involving Elias Disney in private hands known to exist. This
contract is hand-signed in three locations by Elias Disney. They
are dated 1/29/1918, 6/29/1918, and 12/31/1918. The contract is
also signed on these dates by the company's President, Ernest A.
Scrogin. Originally from the estate of Ruth Disney Beecher. She was
Elias and Flora Disney's youngest daughter. The estate items,
including this piece, were sold through an auction. The history of
this rare document is included in the sale. All three signatures of
Elias Disney are in pen and ink. Minor handling and fade over-time,
overall Very Good condition.
