Description
Disneyland - Haunted Mansion Painted Sign (Walt Disney, c. 1990s). When Disneyland opened in 1955, guests would pay $1 admission to enter the park and 10 to 35 cents per attraction once inside the park. A few months after opening, the park switched its admission format to ticket books, with attractions labeled as "A", "B", or "C" tickets based on their popularity. The least popular attractions were marked as "A" tickets, the slightly more popular were "B" tickets, and the most sought after were "C" tickets. The following year, Disneyland introduced "D" tickets. In 1959, they debuted the "E" ticket for their most popular rides like Matterhorn Bobsleds, Jungle Cruise, Rocket to the Moon, and later in 1969, The Haunted Mansion. Featured in this lot is a spooky sign, reminding guests to take out their "E" coupon and present it to the friendly ghost. A reminder of a bygone Disneyland era, this Disney-painted sign was commissioned by Tom Grace from the Disneyland sign shop and it features the characteristic humor used for the iconic Disney attraction. The sign is featured in a frame measuring 14.25" x 19.25". Frame is sold as-is. Some handling wear is present on the lot. In Very Good condition. From the Rummell Collection.
