Description
Letter to Ub Iwerks Concerning a Mickey Mouse Newspaper Comic Strip (King Features Syndicate, 1929). King Features proposed a Mickey Mouse daily comic strip to Walt Disney in June, 1929. The very first daily Mickey comic strip to hit the newspapers was 1/13/30. The story was written by Walt Disney, with artwork by Ub Iwerks. Mr. Iwerks would go on to draw the first 24 daily strips. The very first continuing storyline was based on Plane Crazy. This is a rare typed letter from Ward Greene of King Features Syndicate Inc, dated October 1, 1929, sent to W. B. Iwerks at 27819 Hyperion in Hollywood California. It reads, "I am still looking forward to seeing the Mickey Mouse strips. Any news?" Letter was folded and has two punch holes for filing at top, and was hand-signed by Mr. Greene. Given the importance of Ub Iwerks (1901 - 1971) to the Walt Disney Company, and the emergence of Mickey Mouse in this timeline, this is a very important document. Folds, minor handling wear.
