Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge Pick and Shovel Laborer Limited Edition Figurine Artist's Proof II (Another Rainbow, 1994). Uncle Scrooge proudly shows off the tools that helped make his fortune -- a simple pick and shovel -- while standing atop an enormous pile of glittering gold and silver coins, in this fine art, bone china recreation of Carl Barks' 1974 painting. Another Rainbow conceived this and other porcelain figurines based on Barks' paintings in the 1990s, and contracted the English firm of Connoisseur of Malvern to produce them. They proved to be too rich for most fans, and unsold figurines were destroyed. This gorgeous rarity is one of three Artist's Proofs, and is signed in gold by Carl Barks. And speaking of gold, there's the real stuff (silver too) in the coins Scrooge is proudly protecting. The figurine stands approximately 11.5" tall, on a circular wooden base 11" in diameter. It's in Excellent condition. From the Kerby Confer Collection.
