Description

Yellow Kid Vintage Toy Group (c. 1896). A group of three very early toys based on the first American comic strip star, Richard Outcault's Yellow Kid. All three are approximately 10" figures, with painted cast metal heads and hands on wooden bases, and with cloth nightshirts, and were designed with moving parts. All three appear to have very old replacement shirts. Included are Tipping Hat Doll (listed in Hake's, Good value listed as $2,250) in Fair condition with working arm but missing part of the wooden base; Mask Doll, also in fair with working arm but missing most of the cloth shirt; and a Waving Doll in Poor condition, missing most of the paint, no wooden base, arm no longer movable, and cloth stained. Three very rare items, the first we've ever seen. From the Jerry Weist Collection.
