The Haunt of Fear #1 "House of Horror" Silverprint Color Guide Group (EC, 1950). Harvey Kurtzman's first work for EC was this six page story of a group of collage fraternity brothers initiating pledges with the help of a sinister old, abandoned house. In order to make a good impression, Kurtzman slaved over his drawing board, creating his most detailed illustrations to date. This is an original set of Silverprint Proof pages for that story, culled from the files of publisher William Gaines. Each page was hand-colored by Marie Severin, for use as a color guide by the printers. The image areas average 6.25" x 8.5"; each page has watercolor with marker and pencil notations added, along with numbered stickers in the upper right corners, added for later reprints. The pages are in Very Good to Excellent condition.
