Description

Secrets Behind the Comics by Stan Lee (Famous Enterprises Inc.,1947) Condition: VG/FN. Stan Lee was only in his mid-twenties when he wrote this book, yet as it proclaims, "He has been in complete charge of more comic magazines than any other living editor." This book was advertised in Timely comics upon publication. It's not a comic, though it is hand-lettered throughout in true comic style and is primarily illustrated by Ken Bald. The book has features on Syd Shores (with four pages of his Blonde Phantom reproduced), Mike Sekowsky, Basil Wolverton, Al Jaffee and publisher Martin Goodman, plus many other creators form the 1940s. There is also a detailed description of how Captain America was created. Probably the first book of its kind ever published, this is one of only a handful of copies we've seen over the past 14 years. Not listed in Overstreet. From the Al Dellinges Collection.
