Description

Secrets Behind The Comics by Stan Lee (Famous Enterprises Inc., 1947). Stan Lee may be the single most important person to ever be part of the comic book medium. He has continued to be a major force since the Golden Age and, with this book, was the first to give insights to the comic industry. He helped create Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk, the X-Men, and hundreds of other characters that have become the most beloved by comic collectors overall. Lee was only in his mid-twenties when he wrote this book, yet as this book proclaims, "He has been in complete charge of more comic magazines than any other living editor." This book was advertised in Timely comics upon publication. Hand-lettered in true comic style, with Smilin' text illustrations by Ken Bald. Features include profiles on Syd Shores (with four pages of his Blonde Phantom reproduced), Mike Sekowsky, Basil Wolverton, Al Jaffee, and Martin Goodman, as well as a detailed description of how Captain America was created, with several nice images of Cap. In Very Good to Fine condition. Not currently listed in Overstreet.
