General Comics Sales Binder with Sample Comic Books (General Comics, Inc., 1940s). Erik R. Singer's General Comics, Inc., was an advertising/public relations firm that dealt in custom-designed funnybooks to tell the stories of its corporate or institutional clients. This virtually unique leatherette binder (embossed cover) contains a folio of typewritten pages — chiefly, a capsule history of the medium — followed by approximately 10 sample comics pamphlets including We Hit the Jackpot (about middle-class ambition); four issues of Adventures in Electricity (containing art by industry veteran George Roussos); Bob and Betty in Columbia Land (about Columbia Records' kid-stuff albums); The Man Who Runs Interference (about insurance); and Heroes All — Catholic Action Illustrated, whose nature is self-explanatory. These titles served foremost as giveaway premiums, primarily distributed to schoolchildren. The individual conditions range from GD to FN/VF on visual and tactile evidence, allowing for a musty smell permeating the package overall.
