Disney Duck-themed Shop Dummy Press Proofs, Group of 5 (Gold Key, 1965-69). Shop dummies are mock-ups used by the editorial staff to correct comic book front cover art and color problems, and assign ads or one-page comic strips to the inside and back, using color proofs, blueline prints, and tearsheets. This set of five shop dummies includes proposed covers for Donald Duck #113, Mickey Mouse #106, Uncle Scrooge #56 and 69, and Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #349. All proofs are heavily marked with notes and marks, plus tape, staples, and glue stains. These are unique items, and allow a look inside the printing process used by Western Publishing to produce each comic. From the Random House Archives.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
