Description

Charles Dana Gibson "A Widow and Her Friends" Signed Print (c. 1900). A lovely example of the prototypical "Gibson Girl" of the Turn of the Century period. In the late 1890s, C. D. Gibson has a running series of cartoons in LIFE magazine titled "A Widow and Her Friends". These were collected into a book in 1901 published by R. H. Russell. This image was used on the cover of that book as well. This print is signed by Gibson in graphite along the lower portion of the 8.5" x 13" image area. The print is on Bristol board affixed to a 13.5" x 18" illustration board. The Bristol board has considerable foxing on it along the sides and top. The illustration board backing has crystalized glue residue on the top edge from a previous framing job, and chipped edges. In Fair Condition.
