Captain Action Green Hornet Uniform Set (Ideal, 1967). Make way for the Holy Grail! Although Spider-Man is tough (and in high demand due to the recent feature film), the Green Hornet uniform set, mint in its original packaging, is the ultimate Impossible To Find Captain Action collectible. The set was released at the very tail-end of the second wave of uniform sets and had poor distribution in some areas. Add to this the fact that the Hornet's popularity was waning by this point in history, a fact reinforced by the poor performance of the TV series that emerged at about the same time. This is a superb piece. The costume and accessories and in mint condition, and have never been removed from the box; the original tape seals are still in place. The box has some condition problems. There are noticeable creases in both of the top corners, and another crease between the 'c' and 't' in the word 'Action.' The celophane window is crinkled at the top center, and in the top left corner. There is a noticeable impact crease running down the left side panel, and the top panel has significant creasing centered around the dotted dividing line. The back side of the box is excellent overall, with a quarter-sized crease along the bottom edge, and a 2" scrape running through the Aquaman and Green Hornet pictures, which does not break the ink. And while we feel it is important to note these condition issues in the name of full disclosure, it can be truthfully said that they detract very little from the overall presentation of this beautiful piece; the uniform and accessories still have a crisp, like-new appearance, with bold colors. The box presents very well overall, and given the unbelievable rarity of this piece, few are likely to notice the slight imperfections of the packaging -- they'll simply be amazed that you own one of these rare treasures! As with many of the Captain Action items we are offering in this catalog, this is the actual piece that is pictured in the recently-released book Captain Action: The Original Super-Hero Action Figure by Michael Eury, an essential reference guide that was consulted many, many times in preparing these descriptions!
