Carl Barks - "Horsing Around with History" Script and Signed Comic Book (Gladstone, 1995). This story, written in 1994, was the first Uncle Scrooge adventure by Carl Barks in thirty years. It was to be his final tale of the World's Richest Duck. Included in this group are two Carl Barks scripts: a hand-typed 31-page manuscript done on Barks' pre-computer word processor (the first two pages are original, the rest copied by Barks on his copy machine), complete with photocopied references of items used in the story (illustrations of the Trojan Horse, helmets, etc.); and a copy of the final illustrated script by William Van Horn, the Disney artist selected by Barks on 47 8.5" x 14" sheets (each sheet showing half of the comic book page). Notes to Barks, seeking approval, are hand-written on the script. Also included is a copy of the final printed comic, Uncle Scrooge Adventures #33, published by Gladstone in 1995, that has been signed in black marker by Carl Barks, as well as William Van Horn and Geoffrey Blum, who wrote a three-page article on the story in the book. Six exclusive 4" x 6" color photos of Barks and Van Horn working on the project together are an added bonus to the fantastic package, and all are in Excellent condition. The Late Carl Barks was proud of his final Uncle Scrooge story. "Horsing Around with History" has an engaging beginning, a good middle, and a satisfying ending. In short, a classic Carl Barks story!
