Carl Barks Always Another Rainbow Uncle Scrooge Prototype Figurine (Another Rainbow, 1993). The inaugural figurine in Another Rainbows collection of fine bone china, hand-painted pieces based on the Disney comic book art of Carl Barks, Always Another Rainbow represents a young Scrooge McDuck as he begins to amass his fabulous fortune in the Alaskan gold rush. The glitter you see here really is 22-karat gold, applied to the bullets in Scrooge's belt, in his poke of nuggets, and sprinkled along the rocks he's standing on. This is the actual first prototype figurine, financed by Barks collector extraordinaire Kerby Confer and prepared by the English fine china firm of Connoisseur of Malvern, under close supervision from Carl Barks and Bruce Hamilton. There are several small differences between this piece and the commercially released edition, which was limited to 100, including the placement of the legs and shape of the hat. There is no Another Rainbow logo or number, but Scrooge's bag was signed by Barks in gold ink. The long strap holding Scrooge's rifle (which was altered slightly in the official version) has come loose from where it was attached to the bottom of the gun, but is still held in place, and could be easily repaired; otherwise, the piece is in Excellent condition. It truly is a one-of-a-kind item for the ultimate Barks fan!

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
