Captain Action - Second Issue Box, Purple Costume Variant (Ideal, 1967). To lead off a stunning selection of Captain Action figures and uniform sets, we present the tough-to-find second-issue CA figure and box, a rare enough treat, but lift the lid, and you will discover -- tah-dah -- the unbelievably scarce purple costume variant. Usually rendered in blue-and-black, a very small run of the "basic" Captain Action uniform were produced using the same purple material utilized in the Phantom leotard, instead of the more common blue fabric. These rare purple uniforms are highly prized by CA collectors. The set is complete, including all accessories still sealed in their original baggie (most pieces are mint, but the sword shows melt marks on one side), the Video-Matic flasher ring (Near Mint to Mint), the scarce comic book (VG, chip off upper left corner), and sales brochure (average wear). The figure is near-mint, with perfect face-paint, but does have a small puckered hole at the base of his left thumb; given that this warehouse-find figure was never in circulation, this is almost certainly a manufacturing defect. Still, it is minor and relatively unnoticeable, and does little to detract from this fantastic figure. The box is excellent, with exceptional color; has some minor color wear, and light abrasions at the corners. Here's your chance to grab what every red-blooded boy wanted in the '60s... a brand new Captain Action, mint in the box, and a rare variant to boot. Owning this will give your Captain Action collection that extra edge. You truly can not get much better than this.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
