    Description

    Bambi Handbook of Production Information 9 Pages (Walt Disney, 1942). Sidney Franklin, a producer and director at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, purchased the rights to Bambi in 1933. Unable to make the novel into a movie, he sold the rights to the story to Walt Disney in 1937. Disney began working on crafting an animated adaptation immediately, intending it to be the studio's second feature-length film. Walt considered the story too grim for the audience he was targeting, and with the work required to adapt the novel, Disney put production on hold while working on Pinocchio. In 1938, Disney assigned Perce Pearce and Carl Fallberg to work on the film's storyboards. On 8/17/39, production on Bambi began, though the project progressed slowly it was finally released on 8/21/42. The offering in this lot is an original 9-page copy of "A Handbook of Production Information" by Charles Levy, Director of Advertising and Publicity. The handbook contains the complete list of personnel working on the film along with sections titled; Synopsis, the Cast, the Production, Cartoon Voices, Twitterpated, Music Enriches Plot, and the Author of Bambi. This is a very rare historical Disney document and would be a terrific acquisition for any discerning collector of animation art. The blue paper cover has edge wear and tears on the bottom edge. The handbook is staples and the left side. Condition is Good.
