    Description

"The Derby" Model Coin-Op Player Piano (Western Electric, c. 1920s). This is one of the rarest coin-op player pianos in this auction. It's the Western Electric model known as "The Derby" with the top half of the machine a simulated horse race. The player mechanism is in the bottom half. Period advertisements read, "The Greatest of All Money Makers," "Which House Wins?" and "Select your favorite and see them go while the piano plays!" Western Electric Piano Company was located on 429 W. Superior Avenue in Chicago, and was founded in 1924; by 1926, it had merged with the J. P. Seeber Corp. and moved to a new location. The game is "as is" with implied warranty or implied working condition; it will require restoration. Fair condition.
